Kraatz was contracted to remove the old structures which supported two calcine reactors at Rossing mine and fabricate and install a new platform. Phase one of the project meant disconnecting all reactor pipes, removing two reactors, removing steel members and reactor support columns and platforms.
In phase two Kraatz produced workshop drawings, fabricated all beams, columns and channels, reinstated repair concrete plinths and holding down bolts and then erected the new steel structure. The fabrication had been done in the Kraatz Walvis Bay workshop and then transported and installed at Rossing.
